Dhaka: Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has conducted drives across different areas of the country following complaints filed by citizens suffering from irregularities and corruption.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, separate teams from the enforcement unit of ACC carried out operations in Dhaka, Jhenaidah, and Sylhet.
In Dhaka, an ACC team raided the Livestock Directorate to investigate allegations of irregularities in the tender process of the Livestock and Dairy Development Project. The team seized relevant documents from the project office and engaged in discussions with the project director. A detailed report will be submitted after a thorough investigation into these allegations.
Meanwhile, in Jhenaidah, a team from the ACC integrated district office conducted a drive at the Kaliganj sub-registry office. The focus was on allegations of bribery involving service seekers. Team members spoke with service receivers, uncovering that all staff, including the sub-registrar, regularly accepted bribes during land registration processes. The team collected evidence from the office to support these claims.
In Sylhet, the ACC enforcement team executed a drive at Biyani Bazar Upazila Health Complex, probing into allegations of irregularities in health service delivery and patient harassment. The team discovered that the hospital authority failed to provide quality food and essential drugs to patients, despite having sufficient stock. Additionally, a segment of the hospital staff and an ambulance driver were found to be involved in various irregularities, leading to significant suffering and financial strain on patients. The team will submit their findings to the commission, as indicated by an ACC source.
