Dhaka:The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Selina Akter, a former clerk of the Rajdhani Unnayan Katripokha (RAJUK), for allegedly accumulating wealth worth Taka 1.31 crore beyond her known income sources.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Selina Akter's husband, Abdul Malek Miah, who also served as a clerk at the same office before retirement, is named as a co-accused. The ACC's investigation found that Miah assisted Akter in acquiring these assets.

The investigation revealed discrepancies in the wealth statement submitted by Selina Akter on December 10, 2018. The ACC determined that assets valued at Taka 1,30,73,693 were inconsistent with her known income sources. While her legitimate assets were valued at Taka 3,08,24,805, the total assets in her name amounted to Taka 4,38,98,498.

ACC Assistant Director Tapas Bhattacharya conducted the investigation leading to the case. The charges against Selina Akter and Abdul Malek Miah fall under section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, and section 109 of the Penal Code.
