Dhaka: Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Mohammad Abdul Momen today urged political parties not to nominate any corrupt person in the upcoming elections. “It is not possible to move the country forward if corruption exists at the top level. We want honest people as candidates in the national elections,” he emphasized.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ACC chairman made these remarks during the inauguration of a workshop for members of Reporters Against Corruption (RAC) at the ACC conference room. He highlighted the commission’s commitment to fearlessly investigating allegations of corruption against influential individuals and taking necessary legal actions.

Momen also mentioned that various legal measures have been implemented through Interpol, including issuing red notices, to bring back fugitive corrupt individuals, including Sheikh Hasina and her family members, from abroad. He acknowledged the challenges of recovering laundered money but assured that the ACC, along with other government agencies, is making relentless efforts in this regard.

The workshop was attended by ACC Secretary Mohammad Khaled Rahim, Director Generals Abdullah Al Zahid and Abu Hena Mustafa Zaman, among others, underscoring the ACC’s dedication to combating corruption at all levels.
