Dhaka: Education Adviser Dr. C R Abrar today emphasized the necessity of integrating technical education into the mainstream education system of the country. 'We have to come out from the negative perception of technical education,' he stated during a seminar on 'Improving Quality of Technical Education - Possibilities and Responsibilities in World Perspective' at the International Mothers Language Institute Auditorium, where he served as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Abrar highlighted the need for structural reforms in the technical education sector, which has long been neglected. He pointed out the shortage of skilled teachers in trade-based educational institutions and advocated for initiatives to update technical education to eliminate these barriers.
Dr. Abrar addressed the issue of unemployment among educated youths in the country, urging a focus on technical education to address this challenge. He also commented on the students affected by the July uprising, acknowledging their trauma and suggesting that understanding is necessary to bring them back to the classroom environment.
'We have been passing a difficult time now and everybody should have patience. All demands should be placed with due honour and there must be a scope of reconciliation,' he added.
The seminar was chaired by Dr. K M Kabirul Islam, Secretary to the Technical and Madrasha wing of the education ministry. Other notable attendees included Siddiq Jubayer, Secretary to the Secondary and Higher Education, Miss Nasreen Afroz, Chairman of the National Skill Development Authority, and Shoaib Ahmed Khan, Director General of the Technical Education Directorate.
