Abdus Soad emerges champion National Badminton meet

Khandakar Abdus Soad of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP emerged men's singles champion in the 38th National Badminton Championship beating Abdul Hamid Lukman of Sylhet District Sports Association (DSA) by 21-11, 21-19 points in the final held today (Friday) at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium in the city.

In the men's doubles event, Abdul Zahir Tanbir and Gourab Singha pair of Bangladesh Ansar emerged champions beating Md Mizanur Rahman and Rahatun Nayem pair of Sylhet DSA by 18-21, 21-19, 21-09 points in the final.

In the women's singles event, Urmy Akter of Bangladesh Army emerged champion beating her teammate Mst. Nasima Khatun by 18-21, 21-16, 23-21 points in the final

In the doubles event, Bristi Khatun and Mst. Nasima Khatun of Bangladesh Army emerged champions defeating their teammates Urmi Akter and Rasma Akter by 15-21, 21-17 21-09 points in the final.

In the mixed doubles event, Al Amin Juman and Urmi Akter of Bangladesh Army emerged champions beating their teammates SSM Sifat Ullah and Bristi Khatun by 21-15,21-16 points in the final.

Bangladesh Badminton Federation's (BBF) president and chief information commissioner Dr. Abdul Malek was the chief guest in the closing ceremony and distributed the prizes.

Bangladesh Olympic Association's deputy secretary general Ashikur Rahman Miku, Bangladesh Swimming Federation's general secretary MB Saif, Bangladesh Chess Federation's general secretary Shahabuddin Md Shamim, CSRM's director Atiq Shahriar Rafid and BBF's general secretary Md Alamgir Hossain, were among others, also present in the prize distribution ceremony.
