Dhaka: Chief Adviser's Special Assistant for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Ministry, Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, announced the establishment of an ICT cell at a2i to provide technical support to the National University (NU) in the field of information technology. The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the 'Trainers' Training' workshop organized for instructors on implementing the National University's ICT curriculum at the ICT Division in the capital.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Taiyeb emphasized the importance of the ICT course and training workshop, stating that it marks a significant milestone in equipping every student under the National University with essential knowledge in areas such as coding, machine learning, artificial intelligence, cloud-based computing, data management, online security, and digital tools usage. He highlighted the goal of creating greater opportunities for students to acquire technological skills as the nation progresses toward the 4th Industrial Revolution.
Taiyeb further stressed the need for the development of the National University to ensure Bangladesh's digital transformation. He stated that the ICT Cell at a2i would provide the necessary technical assistance to support this transformation, emphasizing that leaving NU students behind would hinder the country's progress.
The event was chaired by ICT Division Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury, with speeches from Member of Socio Economic Infrastructure Division Dr. Quayyum Ara Begum and NU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A.S.M. Amanullah. The ceremony was also attended by several dignitaries, including Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, Deputy Press Secretary Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, and UNICEF Bangladesh Deputy Representative Deepika Sharma.
Shish Haider Chowdhury pointed out that technology-based plans often fail to reach classrooms. He expressed optimism that the training would bridge this gap by enabling trained teachers to transfer technology directly to students.
The workshop was organized by the National University with technical support from the Aspire to Innovate (a2i) Program and UNICEF Bangladesh, involving around 90 selected trainers from the university. Participants were awarded certificates at the conclusion of the program.
