Sylhet:Bangladesh reached 36-2 at tea after dismissing West Indies for 356 in the first innings of the second Test at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Hasan Mahmud claimed impressive figures of 6-90 to lead the bowling attack for Bangladesh.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, despite Hasan's efforts with the ball, Bangladesh's batters struggled against a relentless West Indies bowling attack. At tea on Day 2, skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto was at the crease with 11 runs, alongside Towhid Hridoy, who was on 4, following an extended lunch session.
Nayeem Hasan, stepping in as a makeshift opener due to Shadman Islam's ankle injury, fell victim to Jayden Seals for just 5 runs, caught by Brandon King at first slip. Justin Greaves then dismissed Tanzid Hasan Tamim for 16 after a notable catch by debutant Kevin Wickham at cover point.
West Indies resumed their innings at 235-4, with Hasan Mahmud disrupting their momentum with a double strike. He bowled Amir Jangoo for 133, ending a 106-run partnership with Justin Greaves, and removed captain Roston Chase for a duck on the next ball. Although Hasan missed out on a hat-trick due to a successful review by Joshua Bishop, his accuracy continued to trouble West Indies, eventually securing his fifth five-wicket haul.
Despite the bowling onslaught, Greaves managed to score a fifty, pushing West Indies past 300. Mehidy Miraz dismissed Greaves for 51, claiming Bangladesh's first wicket with spin. Hasan concluded his second six-for by dismissing Shamar Joseph, and Miraz wrapped up the innings by taking Jayden Seals' wicket.
