Dhaka:Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has expressed his hope that the revolutionary spirit of November 7 will serve as a guiding force in building the future of Bangladesh. He shared this message on the occasion of the Historic National Revolution and Solidarity Day, observed to commemorate the events of November 7, 1975.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tarique Rahman emphasized that on this significant day in 1975, the soldiers and people of Bangladesh came together to thwart conspiracies against the nation's independence and sovereignty. He described November 7 as a pivotal moment in the country's history, clearly distinguishing between friends and foes of Bangladesh.
Rahman highlighted the importance of learning from history, stating that being overly absorbed in the past or completely ignoring it are both historical errors. He stressed that the day marked a turning point for Bangladesh, as it defined the nation's future course and defeated attempts to undermine democracy and the honor of the armed forces.
He further stated that the forces defeated on November 7, 1975, later united under the Grand Alliance to attempt turning Bangladesh into a subservient state. These actions included the massacre at the BDR Headquarters in Pilkhana and the establishment of a fascist regime, which deprived people of their democratic rights. However, a mass uprising eventually freed the country from fascism.
Tarique Rahman called for a renewed commitment to national unity to prevent any future deprivation of rights or subservience. He urged the people to embrace the spirit of the November 7 revolution to build a self-reliant and welfare-oriented Bangladesh, ensuring all democratic rights.
He concluded by wishing success to the national programs organized to commemorate November 7 and emphasized the priority of Bangladesh's sovereignty over any foreign influence.
