Dhaka:A court has granted a four-day remand for Israt Jahan Pallabi, the general secretary of the Nilphamari District Jubo Mohila League, in connection with a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act at Gulshan Police Station.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Pallabi was produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, where the investigating officer requested a seven-day remand to conduct a thorough investigation. However, Additional CMM Jashita Islam approved a four-day remand following the hearing.
Pallabi was detained at the airport on November 3 as she returned from China. The case statement alleges that on September 11, a group of 80 to 100 unidentified individuals, including members and activists of the banned Awami League and its affiliated organizations, gathered on a public road in front of a KFC restaurant in Gulshan-1. The assembly was reportedly intended to engage in anti-state activities, causing public disorder. They allegedly used crude bombs to incite panic, obstructed daily life, chanted anti-state slogans, and committed acts of sabotage.
The case was subsequently registered at the Gulshan Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
