Dhaka:Petrobangla has addressed circulating rumors on social media alleging a complete stop in the nationwide gas supply for four days.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Petrobangla, the state-run Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Corporation, issued a press release urging the public not to believe these false claims. The corporation stated that these rumors were spread by a vested group using fake photocards with logos of various news outlets to create panic.
Petrobangla clarified that the regasification operations at the Summit LNG Terminal, one of the two liquefied natural gas terminals located in Maheshkhali, Cox's Bazar, have been temporarily halted due to emergency maintenance. Consequently, the daily gas supply is expected to drop from 2,570 million cubic feet (mmcfd) to 2,250 mmcfd over the next four days.
Despite the anticipated reduction in gas pressure in some areas, Petrobangla assured that there would be no complete shutdown of the gas supply across the country.
