Dhaka:A court has granted an additional three-day police remand for Ahmed Shahriar Reza Deep, a 23-year-old suspect in the murder case of former Air Force Flight Lieutenant Tahsif Sauri. Deep was previously under a four-day remand following his arrest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, after the initial remand period, police presented Deep in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court, where the investigating officer sought a seven-day extension. Metropolitan Magistrate Hasan Shahadat approved a three-day remand after the hearing.
On October 31, Metropolitan Magistrate Hasib Ullah Piyas had initially granted a four-day remand. Sub-Inspector Saiful Islam from the General Registration Office of the court for the Uttarkhan Police Station confirmed these developments.
The case statement reveals that on October 27, Tahsif Sauri left home after being contacted by Deep. When he did not return, his mother repeatedly reached out to him, and he reassured her of his return. A message was later sent from Tahsif’s phone, but he never came back home. On October 28, the River Police discovered Tahsif's body in the Turag River near Uttarkhan.
Following an autopsy at Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital, Tahsif's body was returned to his family and laid to rest on October 29. His father, K. M. Enayetul Karim, subsequently filed a murder case with the Uttarkhan Police Station on October 31.
