Dhaka:Prime Minister's Adviser Mahdi Amin announced a new initiative that will soon allow skilled Bangladeshi workers to migrate to Italy at zero cost. This opportunity follows the completion of Italian language, civic orientation, and vocational training programs.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the announcement was made during a seminar titled "Language, Civic and Professional Training for Skilled Migration to Italy" held at a city hotel. The seminar was organized by the Italian Embassy in collaboration with international partners and highlighted opportunities for skilled migration under Article 23 of Italy's immigration legislation.

The initiative aims to create a structured and transparent pathway for Bangladeshis seeking legal employment in Italy. The training programs, approved and certified by Italy's Ministry of Labour and Social Policies, will allow qualified foreign workers to enter Italy legally outside the annual quotas set by the Decreto Flussi, or Flow Decree. These programs require basic proficiency in the Italian language, knowledge of Italian society and civic responsibilities, and vocational qualifications.

The seminar, attended by Italian Ambassador Antonio Alessandro and other international representatives, featured discussions on the importance of collaboration among governments, employers, and international organizations in developing safe and skill-based migration pathways. Mahdi Amin also emphasized the government's efforts to reduce migration expenses to zero and expand similar training arrangements to other overseas employment destinations.

The initiative is expected to provide a model for expanding zero-cost skilled migration to other countries, while strengthening the social and financial protection for expatriate Bangladeshis through plans such as the "Probashi Card."
