Dhaka:Bangladesh suffered an eight-wicket defeat to West Indies in the first cricket Test at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, following a poor batting performance in both innings.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh resumed Day 4 at 79-6 and was eventually all out for 142, setting a target of just 170 for West Indies. The visitors achieved this target with ease.
West Indies adopted an aggressive batting strategy, recognizing the challenges posed by an increasingly deteriorating pitch. Brandon King played a pivotal role, remaining unbeaten on 81 as West Indies chased down the target in just 35.1 overs, losing only two wickets.
Despite interruptions due to bad light and rain, West Indies openers were successful against Bangladesh's spinners, accumulating 112 runs for the first wicket. King's innings included 10 fours and a six, helping to secure a 100-run partnership that frustrated the Bangladesh bowlers.
Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam managed to dismiss Campbell for 49, but it was too late to change the course of the game. Hasan Mahmud also contributed by dismissing Tagnarine Chanderpaul for 1.
The final Test of the series will take place in Sylhet, starting November 4.
