Dhaka:Bangladesh NAP Secretary General and Voice of Conscious Citizens (VCC) Chairman M. Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan has described October 28, 2006, as the beginning of a conspiracy by fascist forces against democracy. He asserted that anti-state and anti-democratic forces took control of the country through brutal killings involving 'logi-baitha' (boat's long bamboo pole and oars) on that day.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mostafa made these remarks during a discussion organized by Voice of Conscious Citizens at the NAP central office in Paltan to commemorate 'October 28, Fascist Awami League and Logi-Baitha.' He presided over the meeting.

Mostafa further stated that the political change on January 11, following the killings, was the culmination of an imperialist and hegemonic conspiracy. He claimed that the government in power for the last 17 years was a product of that conspiracy. He emphasized that the brutal killings were carried out to depoliticize Bangladesh and undermine its democratic process.

He warned that if justice was not served for the October 28 killings following the mass uprising on August 5, issues of humanity and human rights would remain unresolved. He remarked that history had not, and would never, forgive those who disrupted Bangladesh’s democratic continuity by carrying out the killings.

Mostafa also highlighted that an ominous force had taken control of the country through electoral manipulation on December 29, 2008, leading to a prolonged national struggle and sacrifices. He described the incident as one of the most heinous chapters in history, labeling the perpetrators as enemies of humanity and civilization.

He concluded by urging everyone to be prepared to thwart all conspiracies by fascist forces, asserting that there should be no place for them on the soil of Bangladesh again. He stressed that the spirit of August 5 must not be allowed to fail.

The discussion was also attended by NDP Secretary General Md. Manzur Hossain Isa, Bangladesh NAP Joint Secretary General Mita Rahman, VCC Vice-Chairmen Akbar Mohammad and Ali Azam Chowdhury, and central leaders Abul Hossain and Khademul Islam.
