Dhaka:Prime Minister's Defence Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr. AKM Shamsul Islam emphasized that aviation safety should be considered a vital investment in human lives and national assets, rather than an operational expense. He addressed these remarks at the closing ceremony of a seminar held at a city hotel.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was part of the 8th International Flight Safety Seminar-2026, jointly organized by the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB). The adviser highlighted the modernization efforts under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's leadership to transform Bangladesh into a regional aviation hub, stressing the importance of modern infrastructure, internationally recognized safety standards, and effective institutional coordination.

Delegations from air forces of various nations, including Brazil, China, and the United States, attended the event. For the first time, civil aviation authorities from Malaysia, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, along with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), participated.

He called for heightened safety awareness, professional discipline, and effective risk management.
