Dhaka:The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) has recommended the purchase of an additional cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from QatarEnergy Trading LLC. This recommendation comes at a proposed price of JKM minus US$0.10 per million British thermal units (MMBtu).
According to United News of Bangladesh, the additional cargo is scheduled for delivery on December 23, 2026. The arrangement is part of a government-to-government (G2G) agreement within the framework of an existing long-term LNG supply contract.
The proposal, put forth by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, seeks to acquire the additional LNG cargo at a price that deviates from the rate specified in the current contract. The committee has recommended approval of this proposal, identifying QatarEnergy Trading LLC as the chosen supplier.
The JKM (Japan-Korea Marker) serves as a benchmark for spot LNG pricing in Asia. Under the proposed pricing structure, Bangladesh will benefit from a price that is US$0.10 per MMBtu below the JKM benchmark.
