Narail:Aman paddy production in Narail district is projected to surpass the set target this season, driven by favorable weather conditions and diligent efforts from farmers across the district's three upazilas.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) had initially aimed to transplant Aman paddy on 43,465 hectares of land. However, the cultivation has exceeded this target, reaching 43,675 hectares, which is 210 hectares more than planned.
Farmers have already commenced the harvesting and threshing of ripe Aman paddy in various parts of the district. The production target from the cultivated land is set at 137,791 tonnes of rice. Nipu Majumder, a sub-assistant agriculture officer of DAE, stated that Aman cultivation surpassed the target in all three upazilas.
Deputy Director of DAE Muhammad Arifur Rahman mentioned that government-provided free agricultural incentives have motivated farmers to cultivate transplanted Aman rice annually. He also noted that post-Aman harvest, farmers would prepare their fields for Boro, mustard, and other Rabi crops. If the favorable weather persists until the Aman paddy is fully harvested, the district is expected to achieve a bumper yield this season.
