Tokyo:Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is poised to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in Tokyo on Tuesday for a bilateral summit aimed at enhancing the strategic partnership between Bangladesh and Japan. The discussions are expected to focus on boosting trade and investment and expanding cooperation in key sectors.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the summit will commence at 1145 am local time at the Japanese Prime Minister's Office, the Kantei, following a guard of honour for Tarique Rahman. The meeting will last until 1210 pm, after which the leaders will deliver a joint press announcement.
The agenda includes enhancing bilateral relations, expanding business, and exploring Japanese cooperation in various sectors such as renewable energy and digital transformation. The meeting will be followed by a luncheon hosted by Takaichi, featuring a welcome remark and toast.
Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam highlighted that the visit aims to open new avenues for cooperation and attract Japanese investment. The talks will address the implementation of the Bangladesh-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement and explore agreements in agriculture, trade, and environmental conservation.
