Dhaka:Mustafizur Rahman has requested a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to participate in Australia's Big Bash League (BBL), as confirmed by BCB President Tamim Iqbal on Monday.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the announcement was made during the D3 Trophy players' auction held at a city hotel. The BCB is inclined to grant the left-arm pacer clearance, enabling him to play for the Melbourne Renegades.

If Mustafizur receives the go-ahead, he will become the third Bangladeshi cricketer to participate in the BBL, following in the footsteps of Shakib Al Hasan and leg-spinner Rishad Hossain. Rishad is slated to return to the Hobart Hurricanes, the team he played for last season.

The BBL schedule runs through December and January, which coincides with the T20 phase of the D3 Trophy, beginning on December 15. As a result, both Mustafizur and Rishad will miss this phase of the D3 Trophy.

Seven Rings Cement, which secured Mustafizur for 70 lakh points at the auction on Monday, will have his services only for the one-day phase of the tournament. Notably, Mustafizur has opted out of playing first-class cricket in Bangladesh, having stepped away from Test cricket.
