Panchagarh:Temperatures are gradually falling in the Himalayan foothills of Panchagarh, with the mercury dropping to 16.1 degrees Celsius today, intensifying the feeling of winter in the district. The minimum temperature was recorded at 9.00 am on Monday at the Tentulia Weather Observation Centre, down 0.9 degrees Celsius from 17 degrees Celsius recorded at the same time yesterday. The humidity was recorded at 90 percent at the time.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the district has experienced temperatures fluctuating between 17 and 20 degrees Celsius over the past few days. Yesterday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 31.9 degrees Celsius. Although the sun appears early in the morning and shines brightly throughout the day, the weather changes noticeably after sunset, bringing a growing chill. Fog also becomes more prominent at night, leaving different parts of the district cold and misty until dawn.
Local residents said the cold becomes more noticeable after evening, while chilly winds and morning fog reinforce the feeling of winter. However, the daytime sunshine reduces the chill, keeping temperatures relatively warm during the day. Acting officer of the Tentulia Weather Observation Centre Jitendra Nath Roy said temperatures had started to decline gradually, while fog was becoming more frequent at night and in the early morning. He said the weather remained relatively warm during the day but turned colder at night and before dawn. Temperatures may fall further in the coming days, increasing the feeling of winter, he added.
