According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Salam emphasized that access to civic services is a fundamental right for citizens, urging residents to report any negligence by officials or failures to address their needs. He assured that immediate strict action would be taken against those responsible if such complaints are received.

The announcement was made during an exchange of views with residents from wards 15 to 21 at the auditorium of the corporation's Kalabagan Green Road Staff Quarter. The meeting was attended by Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam as the chief guest. Salam listened to the complaints and suggestions, seeking explanations from the relevant departmental officials present at the meeting. He instructed them to promptly address the problems highlighted by residents. He acknowledged waterlogging as a major issue in Dhaka South, existing before his tenure, and assured that efforts are ongoing to tackle the problem.
