Dhaka:Jahangirnagar University (JU) administration has implemented several directives aimed at protecting migratory birds that visit the campus as winter approaches, including a ban on the entry of outsiders.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the university's lakes, which serve as habitats for these migratory birds, have begun to receive their seasonal visitors. A press release by JU's acting Director of Public Relations Office, Mohammad Mahiuddin, confirmed that the lakes have been prepared to accommodate the birds.

The administration has instructed university stakeholders to observe the birds from a safe distance and to avoid activities that could disturb them. Specific prohibitions include parking vehicles beside the lakes, fishing, beating drums, setting off firecrackers, clapping, and making loud noises.

Additionally, people have been urged not to frighten the birds or dispose of plastic bottles and polythene into the lakes. The administration has called for cooperation from all parties involved to maintain a safe environment for the migratory birds.
