Thakurgaon:The Election Commission (EC) has imposed restrictions on non-residents staying in the Thakurgaon-1 constituency, effective from 8am on October 27 until 4pm on October 30, in preparation for the upcoming by-election scheduled for October 29.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the restrictions will not apply to individuals involved in election activities or those authorized by the EC. This decision was communicated through a letter signed by EC Senior Assistant Secretary Md. Shahidul Islam, which was sent to the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police of Thakurgaon.
The letter emphasized that the measure aims to ensure an impartial and peaceful election process for the vacant seat in the Thakurgaon-1 constituency of the 13th National Parliament. The EC instructed that only residents, voters, or authorized personnel should remain in the constituency during the specified period to prevent any undue influence on the election outcome.
The EC has requested local authorities to implement the necessary measures in accordance with this directive to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
