Khulna:Three people lost their lives, including a truck driver and two motorcyclists, and 15-20 bus passengers were injured in two separate road accidents at Atharomile in Dumuria upazila on the Khulna-Satkhira highway.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased were identified as Jinnat Mia, a 35-year-old truck driver from Moktarpur village in Munshiganj district, and motorcyclists Abdur Rouf Gazi, 43, and Yunus Sardar, 25, both from Dumuria upazila. In the first incident, a truck belonging to Crown Cement Company collided head-on with a passenger bus traveling from Khulna to Satkhira around 230 pm on Wednesday. Critically injured Jinnat was taken to Dumuria Upazila Health Complex, where he was pronounced dead by Dr. Tasmia Akter.
Local reports suggested that the bus was carrying numerous passengers, estimating at least 45 people were injured, who were transported to various medical facilities, including Tala Upazila Health Complex and Satkhira Medical College and Hospital. However, OC Munshi Parvez Ahmed stated that no injured bus passengers were found at the scene.
In a separate accident earlier in the morning, Abdur Rouf Gazi and Yunus Sardar were killed when their motorcycle was struck by a speeding bus at approximately 130 am. The incident occurred as they were returning home after settling business payments at Chuknagar Bazar. A Satkhira-bound bus hit their motorcycle, resulting in their deaths at the scene.
