Dhaka:The University of Dhaka (DU) has been ranked 74th globally in the field of family business research, securing a position in the top 100 universities worldwide. This achievement was announced with the release of the inaugural "Family Business Research Index 2026" by the German non-profit organization WIFU Foundation.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the index evaluated the contributions of 2,345 universities to family business research, with a focus on research publications indexed in OpenAlex over a three-year period from 2023 to 2025. The University of Dhaka's placement was based on its research output and the standing of related journals.

The WIFU Foundation, established in 2009 and headquartered in Witten, Germany, developed the index to assess the impact of universities in this specific field. It assigns a zero score to research papers published in unindexed journals. The foundation is dedicated to research, education, and knowledge exchange regarding family businesses and entrepreneurial families.

DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam expressed pride in the university's achievement, stating that it serves as a motivation for teachers and researchers to enhance the quality of research and publish internationally recognized papers. He emphasized the university's commitment to creating a favorable environment for research and expanding its scope to elevate its global standing.
