Sirajganj:The Sirajganj China Dam, also known as Crossbar-3, has become a popular tourist attraction on the Jamuna River, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and engineering feats. Known locally as 'Mini Cox's Bazar,' the site provides a picturesque escape from urban life, with its expansive views of water, sandy river islands, and the distant Jamuna Bridge.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the dam is not only a scenic destination but also plays a crucial role in protecting Sirajganj town from the severe erosion caused by the Jamuna River. The initial embankment was constructed from 1996 to 2001 with British technical support and South Korea's Hyundai Company. Crossbar-3 was later built between 2014 and 2017 by China Harbour Engineering Company, costing approximately Tk 80-82 crore, to further safeguard the area.

With its paved road offering panoramic views of the river, the site draws photography enthusiasts and nature lovers, especially at sunset. The presence of wind turbines adds a modern touch to the landscape, highlighting the potential for wind energy.

The area experiences significant seasonal changes. During dry months, sandy chars and blooming kash flowers enhance the riverbanks' beauty, while the monsoon transforms the scene into an expansive water view. Visitors can enjoy boat rides for a closer look at the Jamuna's vastness and explore the nearby Heart View Point for views of the illuminated Jamuna Bridge at night.

The China Dam has become a vibrant gathering spot, with vendors selling local snacks and families enjoying the river breeze and sunset. Its development as a recreational site showcases how infrastructure for river management can also boost local tourism, providing a distinctive destination for those seeking to connect with Bangladesh's natural landscape.
