Dhaka:Five individuals have succumbed to dengue while 1,366 people have been hospitalized in the last 24 hours, as reported by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). This surge brings the total number of deaths from the disease to 357 this year.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the newly hospitalized dengue patients include 638 from Dhaka Division, 80 from Mymensingh Division, 105 from Chattogram Division, 141 from Khulna Division, 128 from Rajshahi, 72 from Rangpur Division, 191 from Barishal Division, and 11 from Sylhet.
The report further states that a total of 115,617 dengue patients have been hospitalized across the country this year. In the most recent 24-hour period, 1,415 patients recovered and were discharged. To date, 109,316 patients have recovered after hospital treatment.
Last year, dengue infections totaled 102,861 with 413 fatalities.
