Khulna:A meeting was held at the Sonadanga Thana BNP office on KDA Avenue to commemorate the 28th death anniversary of Shaheed Wahiduzzaman Chanchal, the former president of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal's (JCD) Khulna district unit and former vice-president of the JCD central committee.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Freedom Fighter Moniruzzaman Moni, chairman of Khulna WASA and former mayor of Khulna City Corporation, attended the discussion as the chief guest. Moni praised Chanchal as a fearless fighter in the anti-autocracy movement of the 1990s, a meritorious student, and a skilled organizer who upheld the ideological principles of politics.
Moni also highlighted Chanchal's undeniable contribution to the success of student union elections at various colleges in Khulna during the 1980s. The discussion was chaired by former student leader Professor Arifuzzaman Apu and moderated by Kamran Hasan.
KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju and Principal Tarikul Islam were among those who attended the meeting. The event concluded with a doa mahfil seeking eternal peace for Chanchal's soul.
