Satkhira:The Special Response Battalion (SRB-6) has apprehended Fazlul Haque Amini, 45, who is the prime accused in the murder case involving the lynching of Wahiduzzaman Shamim in Debhata upazila of Satkhira. The incident followed allegations of a religious offense.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrest occurred during a raid by the SRB-6 team from the Satkhira camp in the Bishnupur area of Kaliganj upazila around 11 pm on Saturday. Fazlul Haque Amini, son of Qari Ruhul Amin, resides in Daxhin Parulia village under Debhata upazila.

The case originated from an audio recording of a conversation between Shamim, 38, and his wife, which circulated on Facebook on October 12. The recording reportedly contained derogatory remarks about religion, leading to local unrest. Subsequently, on October 12, a group attacked Shamim's house. The following day, while Shamim sought medical treatment, he was allegedly dragged from a doctor's chamber and assaulted. Despite police intervention, he was attacked again and died en route to Satkhira Medical College Hospital.

Shamim's elder brother, Abdul Jalil, filed a murder case at Debhata Police Station, naming 10 individuals and accusing 200 to 250 unidentified people. Fazlul Haque Amini was the first accused in this case. The SRB-6 stated that Amini will be handed over to Debhata Police Station for further legal procedures.
