Chandpur:In a tragic incident, two children drowned in a pond at Ujani village under Kachua upazila this afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased have been identified as Sadia, 10, daughter of Rahim Hossain, and Samira, 8, daughter of Billal Hossain. Samira had come from Chattogram to visit her grandfather's house in Ujani village.
Locals reported that the children were playing in the courtyard around 1.00 pm when they accidentally fell into the nearby pond. After realizing the children were missing, family members began searching and eventually found them floating in the pond. They immediately rescued the children and rushed them to Kachua Upazila Health Complex, but they were pronounced dead by the on-duty physician.
Md Azizul Islam Akash, Officer-in-Charge of Kachua Police Station, confirmed the incident.
