Accra:Road Transport and Bridges, Shipping and Railways Minister Sheikh Robiul Alam underscored the importance of preserving the historical heritage and identity of the Jaitya Press Club (JPC) while enhancing its infrastructure. Speaking as the chief guest at the JPC's founding anniversary event, he highlighted that development should encompass both modern infrastructure and the institution's historical contributions.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister agreed in principle with a proposal to rename a metro rail station after the National Press Club. However, he noted that implementing this change would require assessing technical feasibility, software modifications, and costs. He plans to discuss the matter further with the metro rail authority's managing director.

The minister praised journalists for their crucial role as the nation's conscience and societal mirror. He emphasized their importance in identifying wrongdoings and supporting the integrity of government and democracy. Additionally, he spoke on the significance of marathon running, equating its demands for patience and perseverance to the efforts needed in personal and national achievements.

He also stressed the importance of sports, cultural activities, and intellectual pursuits for fostering a healthy and disciplined nation. The event was attended by JPC President Hasan Hafiz, journalists, club members, and participants in a sports competition, with prizes distributed to the winners.
