Accra:The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has requested all offices, agencies, and educational institutions under the Ministry of Education to provide information on their rooftops. This initiative aims to facilitate the installation of solar panels ahead of the coming summer season.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DSHE has instructed institutions to submit details such as usable rooftop area, dimensions, and approved electrical load within the next two working days. This directive is part of a broader goal set by the power division to generate 3,000 to 4,000 megawatts (MW) of electricity from rooftop solar panels before the next summer season.

Feasibility assessments and data collection are currently underway to identify suitable rooftops for solar panel installation at institutions under secondary, higher, technical, and madrasah education divisions. The DSHE has urged the heads of all its offices, agencies, and educational institutions to provide the required information through a designated online form.

Previously, the Ministry of Education, DSHE, University Grants Commission (UGC), education boards, and educational institutions across the country were asked to submit information about buildings in their respective jurisdictions using a prescribed format.
