Thakurgaon:Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has intensified security at Durga Puja venues in both the border areas and various parts of Thakurgaon district town to ensure the peaceful celebration of Sharadiya Durga Puja.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the security measures involve regular patrols, intelligence surveillance, and consistent communication with the officials managing the puja mandaps. Colonel Mohammad Suroj Mia, the Sector Commander of Thakurgaon BGB, outlined these plans during his visit to a puja mandap in the Shantinagar area of Thakurgaon municipal town this afternoon.
He emphasized that special security arrangements have been implemented in the border regions to maintain a peaceful environment during the Durga Puja, which is the largest religious festival for the Hindu community. Similar measures have been enforced at puja mandaps in urban areas as well.
Colonel Mia assured that BGB personnel will continue routine patrols and intelligence activities at the puja venues. They will also stay in regular contact with the individuals responsible for the mandaps to ensure a swift response to any potential disturbances. He urged the public to disregard rumors or misinformation related to the celebrations.
Commanding Officer of Thakurgaon Battalion (50 BGB), Akhlaqur Rahman, and other officials were present during the sector commander's visit. This year, approximately 475 puja mandaps across Thakurgaon district are expected to host the Durga Puja celebrations.
