Narayanganj:The death toll from a gas leak explosion in Kanchpur, Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj, has increased to three after another victim succumbed to injuries at a hospital on Thursday.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Riaz died at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery's intensive care unit around 215 pm, as confirmed by the institute's resident surgeon, Dr. Sultan Mahmud Shikder. Earlier, Riaz's sister Rozina and her husband Sharif also died while receiving treatment at the same facility.
Rozina had suffered burns on 60 percent of her body, while Sharif and Riaz sustained burns on 40 percent each. Another individual, Rony, is in critical condition with burns covering 70 percent of his body.
The explosion occurred at approximately 130 am on Sunday when a gas leak led to the blast, injuring four people from two families. The victims were immediately taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for medical care.
