Moscow:Asad Sattar, Founder and Creative Director of Arka Fashion Week, represented Bangladesh for the second consecutive year at the BRICS+ Fashion Summit in Moscow. The event, held from September 28 to 30, focused on the role of fashion in shaping culture and its potential as a tool of soft power.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Sattar participated in a plenary session where he discussed how Bangladesh, known globally for its garment manufacturing, can leverage fashion to highlight its cultural heritage and craftsmanship to international audiences. He emphasized that fashion serves as a universal art form, accessible to everyone, and can be a powerful medium for storytelling.

Sattar pointed out the need for Bangladesh to transition from being merely a supplier of ready-made garments to establishing a distinct identity in design and creative innovation. He noted that while garments have a price, designs convey a perspective, which can have a more significant impact globally.

He also spoke about the role of Arka Fashion Week in fostering a creative ecosystem, explaining that the event's name, which translates to 'the sun', symbolizes the aim of creating a lasting cultural presence. In contrast to a spotlight that focuses on one individual, the sun represents a continuous and sustainable influence.

The upcoming edition of Arka Fashion Week is scheduled for December 4 to 6 at Aloki in Dhaka, where it will continue to expand its collaborations with international fashion platforms associated with BRICS+.
