Dhaka:Remittance inflows to Bangladesh have crossed the US$ 10 billion mark in the current fiscal year 2026-27, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 13.1 percent from July 1 to October 14, as reported by Bangladesh Bank data.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the country received $10.11 billion in remittances during this period, compared to $8.94 billion in the same timeframe of the previous fiscal year. In the first 14 days of October alone, Bangladeshi expatriates sent home $1.516 billion, which is an increase of approximately 12.2 percent from the $1.351 billion received during the same period in October 2025.
On October 14, Bangladesh received $111 million in remittances, as noted by the central bank. Financial analysts and central bank officials attribute the steady growth in remittance inflows to increased foreign employment, stable exchange rate mechanisms, and a growing preference among expatriates for legal banking channels over informal routes.
This consistent inflow of foreign currency is crucial for supporting the country's foreign exchange reserves and overall macroeconomic stability.
