Manila:The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for the online submission of VAT returns for the July-September 2026 tax periods to October 25. This extension allows taxpayers to file their returns without incurring interest or penalties.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the extension follows amendments to the VAT return filing provisions under the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026. These amendments were issued as part of the national budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year.
The amendments necessitate administrative changes to the NBR's Electronic VAT (eVAT) system to accommodate the revised return filing provisions. In the public interest, the NBR used its authority under Section 64(2) of the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act, 2012, to extend the deadline.
