Dhaka:The paramilitary force Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) is actively ensuring security at approximately 1,800 Durga Puja mandaps situated within eight kilometers of the nation's borders.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui shared this information during a visit to the Ramna Kali Temple in the capital. The visit aimed to assess security arrangements and coordinate with relevant authorities in preparation for the Sharadiya Durga Puja festival.

During his visit, Major General Siddiqui extended greetings to the Hindu community and engaged in discussions with the Ramna Kali Temple Universal Puja Celebration Committee. He highlighted that BGB is collaborating with other law enforcement agencies under the directives of the Ministry of Home Affairs to bolster security during the festival.

BGB personnel have already visited the border-area puja mandaps to coordinate with local celebration committees. To enhance security at more remote mandaps, BGB plans to establish 18 base camps. Additional measures are in place in cooperation with police and other agencies to protect mandaps near BGB and other headquarters.

A control room has been set up at BGB headquarters to monitor security efforts and enable swift coordination. The 'Sharadiya Surokkha App' offers a platform for the public to contact law enforcement in emergencies. Major General Siddiqui emphasized BGB's preparedness to handle any incidents, noting that intelligence and security measures are being reinforced.

Senior BGB officials, including the additional director general for operations and training and the Dhaka sector commander, were present during the visit.
