Khulna:A Durga idol decorated with golden paddy ears is drawing significant attention at the Bagmara Tentultala Sarbojonin Puja Mandir in Khulna city, highlighting the agricultural heritage of Bangladesh.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, approximately 30 kilogrammes of Chinigura paddy sheaf were used to adorn the idol. The decoration was completed by four artisans over 40 days at a cost of Tk 1.60 lakh, as reported by the organisers.
Subrata Sarkar, a member of the temple management committee, noted that the initiative was a response to local demand for something unique this year. The temple, established in 1972, is one of about 77 Puja mandaps in the city. Organisers mentioned that the distinctive decoration has attracted visitors of all ages, especially young people.
The golden paddy ears serve as a symbol of agricultural prosperity, the hard work of farmers, and the rich rural traditions of Bangladesh.
