Hajaribag:A milad and doa mahfil will be held after Asr prayers at Tali Office Road Hajaribag Baitul Mamur Mosque on Friday to commemorate the death anniversary of Khandaker Waresh Ahamed Helal, the former general secretary of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) Dhanmondi unit.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Helal, who was a Masters examinee at Jagannath University and held the position of JCD general secretary for the Dhanmondi unit, was taken by a group to the court premises in the old city on October 6, 1998. This occurred as he participated in a procession demanding the release of BNP leader Obaidur Rahman.
The gang later killed Helal in a hotel near the court area and disposed of his body in an unknown location in the Savar area to eliminate evidence.
