Chattogram:Authorities confiscated 120,050 kg (120.05 tonnes) of government red wheat during a raid on United Flour Mills in the Nasirabad area under Bayezid Police Station.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the raid was conducted by SRB-7 Chattogram in collaboration with an Executive Magistrate and the Directorate General of Food. The operation took place on Saturday night, and a press release was issued by Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, Assistant Director (Media) of SRB-7 Chattogram, on Sunday.
The raid was initiated based on information about illegal hoarding of government food grains by traders operating without authorization. United Flour Mills, which lacked a valid license, was found with the stockpiled wheat. The establishment was fined Taka 3 lakh by a mobile court for these violations.
Legal proceedings regarding the seized wheat and the fine are currently underway. SRB-7 Chattogram also announced that mobile court operations with Executive Magistrates will persist to address and prevent further illegal stockpiling and irregularities involving government food grains.
