Dhaka:The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has initiated a cybersecurity awareness programme spanning the entire month of October. This marks the first time the exchange has embarked on such an initiative, with the goal of enhancing cyber resilience among its officials, employees, and Trading Right Entitlement Certificate (TREC) holders.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the programme is designed to raise awareness about online fraud, promote safe digital practices, and encourage responsible behavior to guard against cyber threats. A press release detailed that the DSE has displayed cybersecurity awareness banners and festoons on its premises and has implemented awareness-themed desktop wallpapers on employees' computers.

The initiative also includes online cybersecurity awareness training sessions conducted via Zoom for TREC holders. Participants are grouped to facilitate practical learning on essential cybersecurity topics. Additionally, an online quiz competition has been organized to assess and boost the cybersecurity knowledge of TREC holders. Winners will be determined based on their performance in the quiz.

To further incentivize participation, the DSE plans to recognize TREC holders who excel in the cybersecurity awareness activities. Notable participants will receive recognition and certificates during the exchange's regular 'Meet and Greet' programme.

The Information Security Department (ISS) is responsible for coordinating the programme, which involves planning, preparing awareness materials, conducting training sessions, and organizing the quiz competition. Support for these activities is provided by the IT Infrastructure, Network, Public Relations and Publications departments, along with the Managing Director's Office.

The DSE emphasizes that safeguarding technology-driven capital market operations requires more than just technical measures; it also demands awareness and responsible actions from all stakeholders. The exchange anticipates that this coordinated effort will enhance cybersecurity awareness among its stakeholders, contributing to a safer and more reliable technology-driven capital market.
