Abu Dhabi:Bangladesh managed to reach a total of 317 for eight despite a dramatic middle-order collapse on the first day of their one-off test against Afghanistan at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Bangladesh's innings began strongly after winning the toss and choosing to bat. Openers Tanzid Hasan and Shadman Islam put together a formidable partnership of 124 runs for the first wicket. Tanzid led with an aggressive 83 from 71 balls, while Shadman added 67 to the board.
The fall of Tanzid, caught behind off Ismat Alam, was soon followed by Shadman's dismissal at 184 for two, which triggered a collapse. Mominul Haque contributed 39 before being dismissed, and Bangladesh lost three wickets for just four runs, slipping from 221 for two to 225 for five. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto managed 29, but Mushfiqur Rahim was out for a duck.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Litton Das provided some stability with a partnership of 62 runs. Miraz scored 19 before being bowled by Ismat Alam, while Litton Das made it to his half-century before getting out for 50. Despite these efforts, Bangladesh was in a precarious position at 303 for seven after 79 overs.
For Afghanistan, Mohammad Saleem emerged as the standout bowler with three wickets, while Yamin Ahmadzai and Ismat Alam took two wickets each.
