Dhaka:Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has criticized the opposition party's threats to halt remittance flows, describing them as anti-national, anti-humanitarian, and contrary to the people's interests.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Rizvi stated that such threats imply endangering the nation's development, economic activities, and leaving people hungry. He emphasized that remittances are crucial to the national economy and the livelihood of millions of families in Bangladesh.

Rizvi made these remarks at an event organized by the 'Zia Smrity Pathagar' at the TSC auditorium of Dhaka University. He highlighted that Bangladeshis living abroad include supporters of various political parties, ordinary citizens, and apolitical individuals, questioning the authority behind the threat to shut down remittances.

He accused his political opponents of prioritizing party interests over national interests, contrasting this with the BNP's focus on the state's and the people's welfare.

At the same event, Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Abdus Salam called for Chhatra Dal to enhance its cultural and intellectual activities to revive the country's cultural heritage. He encouraged organizing essay competitions on the Liberation War and Ziaur Rahman in educational institutions.

Salam also praised the reforms introduced by Ziaur Rahman, noting their unmatched impact and his significant contributions to politics, despite not being a traditional politician. He alleged that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had banned politics, similar to actions taken by his daughter.
