Dhaka:The government plans to introduce a new sports textbook for Class IV students starting from the next academic year as announced by State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque. This initiative is part of an effort to integrate physical education into the school curriculum.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state minister emphasized that the textbook aims to promote healthy lifestyles, discipline, and drug-free living among children in conjunction with their academic studies.
During a reception for meritorious SSC and HSC students held at Mirpur Bangla School and College in Dhaka-16, Aminul Haque elaborated on the proposed book's content, which will include information on the benefits of sports, nutrition, and healthy eating.
He encouraged students to set their life goals early, highlighting the importance of education for success while emphasizing the role of sports in developing healthy individuals and a healthy nation.
The state minister also discussed plans to enhance educational institutions in Pallabi and Rupnagar, including the provision of separate residential facilities for teachers. He mentioned having sent demi-official letters regarding these developments and expressed intentions to consult with the education minister and potentially submit a proposal to the prime minister.
Aminul Haque called for cooperation among teachers, parents, the government, and society to create a supportive environment for students, aiming for a united and humane Bangladesh free from political vendettas.
The event was led by Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Khoshnobish, principal of Mirpur Bangla School and College, with other notable attendees including Dhaka-16 educational institutions' board president Moinul Haque Moin and MDC Model School and College president Hafizur Rahman Sarker. Prizes were also distributed to the outstanding students by the state minister.
