Rajshahi:The investigation committee formed by the university administration has recommended the temporary cancellation of studentships for four students in connection with an attack on journalists at Rajshahi University.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Faridul Islam, presented the investigation report to students in his conference room. The report suggests that due to the nature and extent of the crime, the studentship of Ahsan Habib, Ariful Islam, Hasibul Hasan, and Bishal Chakraborty should be temporarily canceled.
Additionally, the report recommends that Bulbul Rahman, Shariful Islam, and Shahriar Alam receive warnings. Further investigation has also been proposed regarding allegations against Rakibul Islam, Takbir Ahmed Emon, Syed Sazharul Islam, and Tanim Rahman.
The incident occurred on Sunday night, October 4, when journalists on campus were suddenly attacked in front of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Hall. Following the attack, a five-member investigation committee was formed on October 5 by the university administration. The Vice-Chancellor had announced that the investigation report would be completed within 72 hours, and the report was subsequently published after the deadline on Friday.
Campus journalists expressed their gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for releasing the investigation report within the promised timeframe.
