Tejgaon:State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku emphasized the importance of establishing industries, factories, and institutions through domestic initiatives to achieve a self-reliant and self-sufficient Bangladesh.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tuku made these remarks as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the BUTEX-ITET Dye-Chem Expo-2026 at the Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX). He highlighted the need to transform the country's vast population into an effective workforce as a path to prosperity.

Tuku also stressed the significance of establishing connections between students and industrial enterprises. Such initiatives, he noted, provide students with practical workplace knowledge and opportunities to apply their skills and knowledge in their professional lives.

He criticized the previous government for creating a severe crisis in the economic sector, particularly affecting banks and financial institutions. Additionally, Tuku mentioned that international tensions and ongoing wars have led to shortages and price hikes in various sectors, including electricity and gas, globally.

Despite these challenges, Tuku assured that the current government has been working to advance the country's economy and development activities since taking office. The event was chaired by Bangladesh University of Textiles Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Engineer Md Julhas Uddin, with several other notable speakers, including Engineer Mahbuba Hakim, MP, BGMEA President Engineer Mahmud Hasan Khan, ITET Bangladesh President Engineer Enayet Hossain, and ITET Bangladesh Secretary-General Engineer ASM Hafizur Rahman Nixon.
