Zahid Hossain Encourages Unity for a Harmonious Bangladesh

Nawabganj:Social Welfare Minister Abu Zafar Md. Zahid Hossain has called on citizens to unite in building a discrimination-free, harmonious Bangladesh where people of all faiths can coexist peacefully.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister emphasized the importance of maintaining religious harmony and working together to create a humane society. Speaking at a views-exchange and assistance distribution event at the Nawabganj Upazila Parishad premises, he underscored the need for cooperation during the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja to ensure it is celebrated in a joyous and peaceful manner.

Dr. Zahid reiterated the government's commitment to supporting the deprived, highlighting ongoing initiatives to improve the welfare of all citizens. He mentioned government assistance programs aimed at raising living standards for people with disabilities, financially disadvantaged students, and those suffering from complex diseases.

During the event, vegetable seeds, fertilizer, and netting were distributed free to 1,080 farmers under the SACP-RAINS project to boost agricultural production. Additionally, financial assistance ranging from Tk 20,000 to Tk 100,000 was given to individuals with disabilities, poor meritorious students, and disadvantaged persons. Cheques of Tk 100,000 each were also provided to 48 patients with serious illnesses.

Sports equipment was distributed to various educational institutions and clubs, with Dr. Zahid expressing hope that such support would foster a prosperous society. The event was presided over by Nawabganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Bidhan Kanti Haldar and attended by local leaders and officials.
