Eight DU Students Honored with Ali Riaz Research Awards and Scholarships

Dhaka:Eight students from the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at the University of Dhaka have been recognized with the Ali Riaz Postgraduate Research Awards and Scholarships for their outstanding research work.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the awards ceremony was held at the Prof Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium, where DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam presented the awards and scholarship cheques to the recipients. The event was organized by the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism.

Prof Kazi Mohammad Mahbobor Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and acting chairman of the department, presided over the event. Distinguished Professor Dr. Ali Riaz from Illinois State University in the United States attended as the guest of honor, and Prof Robaet Ferdous moderated the program.

During his speech, the vice-chancellor congratulated the awardees and emphasized the importance of family, societal, and parental support in their achievements. He encouraged the students to become responsible citizens and contribute to building a prosperous society. He also highlighted the need for private-sector partnerships and alumni support to enhance the university's educational and research standards.

The Ali Riaz Postgraduate Research Award was given to Arthee Nabanita and Farah Zahan Shuchi. The six recipients of the postgraduate research scholarships included Farah Zahan Shuchi, Usama Rafid, Azra Humayra, Kouritra Poddar Tirtha, Mohammad Al Mukit, and Muhammad Muzzammil Haque.
