Dhaka:Modern machinery has been inaugurated at the Dhaka University Science Workshop to modernize the facilities and enhance the operational capacity of the workshop.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the new equipment was inaugurated by DU Treasurer, Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, who served as the chief guest at the ceremony held on the workshop premises. The event was presided over by the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Dr. Md. Mofazzal Hossain, and conducted by Professor Dr. Zulfikar Hasan Khan.
The newly installed equipment includes a 'MIG welding machine' in the mechanical section for manufacturing and repairing metal equipment, and a '3D printer' for creating research prototypes and components from digital designs. In the carpentry section, a 'wood cutting machine' has been introduced for precise cutting of laboratory benches and wooden fittings, along with a 'planer machine' for surface finishing.
The AC and refrigeration section now features a 'leak detector machine' to identify and repair refrigerant gas leaks in air conditioners and refrigerators. Additionally, the electronics and research support section has been upgraded with a 'digital oscilloscope' for performance testing of electronic circuits and signals, alongside a new coil winding machine.
Speakers at the ceremony expressed optimism that these advancements will significantly improve the efficiency of research, technical support, and equipment preparation in university laboratories.
